The Yorkshire Dales and Swaledale are both well and truly a year round destination, so even as the days get shorter, there is so much to see and do for owners of holiday homes and lodges at Swaleview Park. Whether you enjoy visiting museums, galleries or garden centres or just browsing in the many local market towns, there are activities for everyone the weather can’t spoil. Autumn, however is a wonderful time of the year in The Yorkshire Dales and here at Swaleview Park in Swaledale, we are blessed with surrounding native woodlands that are a wonderful display of colours. The Park is close to The Pennine Way and The Coast to Coast long distance walks, and even walking a short way there are beautiful views of the Swale Valley, right from our doorstep. Cyclists are spoilt for choice as the route of the 2014 Grand Depart is close by and mountain bikers can ride across the open moor all day. There is a great list of things to do on our Park Life page but here are a few other ideas for the upcoming season…
Visit Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes, only 20 minutes from The Park and see the famous cheese being made, and sample as much as you like! www.wensleydale.co.uk
If history is your thing, retrace the steps of Richard III and visit Richmond Castle and Middleham Castle, both great examples of English Castles. There is also Bolton Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots stayed which is only 10 minutes drive.
If you love to shop, the market towns of Richmond, Leyburn, Hawes and Bedale are all within 30 minutes drive and have great independent shops, a real alternative to the big high street retailers!
